The Middle East and the United States have vastly different attire as a result of their emphasis on religions. The Middle East places a heavier value on religion than the United States, which follows a more secular view of government and culture. As a result, Middle Eastern clothing is more modest than that of the United States. The major difference is seen in women; many Middle Eastern countries require the wearing of hijab and complete covering of the body, whereas the United States has no requirements. However, the distinction between the clothing of the Middle East and United States can also be seen in men. Men in the Middle East often wear long sleeves and pants while American men only wear those in cold environments. In general, the Middle East places modest clothing as something of high value and necessary, while the United States does not emphasize dressing in a certain way and thus has citizens that dress less modestly as a whole.
